Feeling Stuck? Try the Opposite Direction Instead
Most people wait until they have a plan.
A strategy. A vision board. A step-by-step guide.
I didn’t.
I just knew I didn’t want to be broke, unhealthy, or miserable anymore.
So I moved in the opposite direction.
And that saved my life.
If you’re reading this, you might be where I was.
Not rock bottom but stuck.
You’ve got potential.
You’ve had success.
But you feel off.
You wake up knowing this isn’t it, but you don’t know what it is.
And the longer you stay here, the more you overthink, the more you doubt, and the harder it becomes to move.
Here’s what no one tells you:
You don’t need to know where you’re going.
You just need to stop walking toward what’s breaking you.
When I decided I wanted to earn a million dollars, I didn’t have a detailed plan.
I didn’t even really believe it was possible.
I was just clear on one thing… I didn’t want to be a failure.
I didn’t want to be broke.
So I moved.
At the time, I was working full-time as a builder. Good wage. Decent life on the surface. But I knew it wasn’t going to build the future I wanted. So before and after work, I hustled.
No mentors. No strategy. Just hunger.
I messaged people on Facebook. Pitched solutions to problems I thought I could help with.
Jumped on calls. Closed deals. Ordered products. Helped clients.
Then did it all again the next day.
That routine didn’t look glamorous.
But it got me moving.
And here’s the truth:
The more I helped people, the less broke I became.
The less broke I was, the more confidence I built.
The more confident I got, the clearer everything became.
Clarity wasn’t something I found.
It was something I earned by doing things differently.
But it wasn’t easy.
One of the hardest parts about changing your life is changing how people see you.
Some people were supportive. Others… not so much.
When you start growing, it makes people uncomfortable.
They’ll project their fears onto your effort. They’ll distance themselves. They’ll question who you think you are.
That part hurt.
Because I was walking alone for a while.
But my gut told me this was the path.
And staying broke just to be accepted wasn’t worth it.
These days, I believe in 5-year plans.
They can be powerful.
But back then, I didn’t need a vision. I needed momentum.
If you feel stuck stop trying to figure everything out.
Instead, start with what you know you don’t want anymore.
It might be:
• A job that drains you
• A relationship that dims you
• A body that reflects neglect
• A mindset built on fear
Good. That’s enough.
Now move in the opposite direction.
Don’t worry about what’s perfect.
Do what’s different.
Because clarity doesn’t come from thinking.
It comes from choosing differently and letting experience give you feedback.
Here’s how I still live by this today:
When I feel off-track, I don’t overthink.
I identify what’s not working.
I ask, “What’s the opposite of this?”
Then I do that and let momentum build the next step.
That’s it.
That’s the reframe.
So here’s your move this week:
Don’t make a 5-year plan.
Just get brutally honest about what you’re done tolerating.
Ask yourself:
“What’s the opposite of the problem I’m stuck in right now?”
“What would a person who’s already solved this do differently today?”
“Where am I choosing comfort over progress?”
Then take a single step in that direction.
It won’t feel perfect. It’ll feel like something is finally shifting.
Because it is.
You don’t need a map.
Just walk away from what’s breaking you.
